Faye was taken in by an animal shelter in Florida after Hurricane Irma.

Faye was taken in by the Jacksonville Humane Society in Florida after being dropped off at the centre.

The huge cat received a massive amount of attention following the post on the animal shelter’s Facebook page.

After being shared widely, it took just one night for Faye to be adopted, being taken in by a mother and daughter who apparently drove two hours to collect her.

Since being picked up, Faye faces a strict but steadily-paced diet as outlined by the shelter’s veterinarian. Most domestic cats weigh about 10lbs (4.5kg).

It looks like she’s doing well, too – becoming close friends with the youngest in the new home.
