Police are appealing for witnesses after a house in Bangor was vandalised yesterday in the second attack in a street within 24 hours.

The property in Ballynoe Gardens in the Kilcooley estate had eight windows smashed at approximately 12.25am.

Three people wearing hooded tops were reported to have fled the scene.

It is the second incident in the street following an arson attack on Tuesday morning in which a car and van were burnt out.

Alliance councillor Connie Egan condemned those behind the violence.

"I'm extremely disappointed to hear about more destruction within the heart of this community," she said. "It is not what local people want to see and we all must stand together in condemning those determined to continue this irresponsible behaviour.

"I've been in touch with senior PSNI officers locally, who have assured me they are taking the situation seriously and will be acting accordingly."

The PSNI said: "Anyone witnessing suspicious activity in this area or anyone with any information can contact officers in Newtownards on 101, quoting reference number 24 of 07/08/19.

"If someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111."
