Ahmadinejad angry at Western media
President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has criticised Western media for having a double standard in reporting on the case of an American woman facing the death penalty, Iran's official news agency has said.
The IRNA report says Mr Ahmadinejad accused the West of launching a "heavy propaganda" campaign against the case of an Iranian woman who had been sentenced to be stoned to death for adultery.
But he says there has not been the same outrage over the imminent execution of Teresa Lewis, a Virginia woman sentenced for using sex and money to persuade two men to kill her husband and her stepson to collect on life insurance policies.
Mr Ahmadinejad made his remarks on Monday during a speech to Islamic figures in New York, where he is attending the UN General Assembly.
