Baby crawls onto busy Turkish road

Drivers in Turkey were left startled when a baby crawled onto a main road.

The incident was captured by security cameras - with the footage of the one-year-old, who survived, later shown on Turkish TV.

Startled drivers waved frantically at other motorists, warning them to get out of the way after the baby appeared on the road in the southern tourist town of Antalya.

The footage shows a baby crawling out of the arms of his mother, who had fallen asleep while begging on the pavement on Thursday.

The baby is seen climbing down the pavement and sitting on the side of the road, just a couple of feet from passing vehicles in heavy traffic.

The Anatolia news agency reported that drivers called the police, who returned the baby to his mother.

She was released after a short time in custody.
