Beijing introduces two flies in toilet rule
Only two flies per toilet please - that’s the new rule according to a bizarre new law in China designed to clean up Beijing's public toilets.
Zealous officials have passed the unenforceable law which applies to lavatories in parks, railway stations, airports, hospitals, malls and supermarkets in the capital, said the Beijing News.
More conventional demands from the municipal committee in charge of cleaning up the capital’s filthy loos have banned the accumulation of urine or water in public toilets and overflowing bins.
It is not clear if failing facilities will be punished and how, but the new rules follow recent campaigns in Beijing to improve its numerous public toilets especially before the 2008 Olympics.
