Briton arrested in 'pot farm' raid

Authorities in the Dominican Republic have arrested a Briton for allegedly running a marijuana farm near a popular tourist town.

The National Drug Control agency said Bob Allen George and Norwegian Christian Lindstad were arrested after agents seized 300 budding marijuana plants and hundreds more that had just been reaped on a small farm near Sosua, a north coast beach town.

Embassy officials did not immediately return calls, and it was not clear if the two foreigners had lawyers. Their home towns were not released.

Authorities also detained a Dominican and a Haitian who took care of the suspected pot farm, on land owned by Lindstad's father.
