Cab driver accused of raping Irish girl on Croatian island

A taxi driver has been arrested on the Croatian island of Hvar after being accused of raping an Irish woman.

The 21-year-old alleges she was raped after she asked him to take her to her hotel from a disco on the holiday island. Croatian police have detained the 36-year-old driver, who denied the rape. He will now go before an investigative judge in the city of Split who will decide if there is a case to answer.

This is the second alleged rape case in Hvar in less then a month. A British girl claimed she was raped by a waiter in a restaurant on the Pakleni Otoci islets just in front of Hvar.
