'Danish citizen shot' in S Arabia

A Danish citizen has reportedly been shot and wounded in the capital of Saudi Arabia, Riyadh.

The official Saudi Press Agency, said the shooting happened on Saturday afternoon. The agency said the victim is in a stable condition and that authorities were investigating.

As a precaution, the US embassy in Riyadh has instructed its personnel to avoid the area where the shooting took place.

Al-Qaida attacks in Saudi Arabia a decade ago killed hundreds of people, including foreigners.

No major terror attacks against foreigners have happened in recent years, though police say a Saudi-American dual national who had been sacked from a US defence contractor shot two American former work colleagues in October, killing one and wounding the other.
