Donald Trump dumps Roma Downey again on Twitter after virtual u-turn

Trump had re-followed the Northern Ireland producer

In what's become a rather bizarre and on-going saga - Donald Trump has once again unfollowed Northern Ireland's second richest woman on Twitter.

Londonderry film producer Roma Downey was one of only 41 people followed by US President-elect Trump.

Roma Downey who is from the Bogside area is one of the most powerful executives in Hollywood.

Eagle-eyed social media watchers noticed Trump's number of users he followed dropped from 41 to 40 last week.

And it transpired that it was the Derry producer that he had cut from his timeline.

However he still followed her TV producer husband Mark Burnett.

The New York Times reported that Trump mentioned he was visited last week by Burnett and and he then re-followed her.

Questions were raised as to whether Burnett had asked Trump to re-follow his wife on social media during their meeting.

But now in a strange turn of events, he appears to have un-followed her again.

The Derry actress and her husband produced the American Apprentice of which Trump was the face of, which apart from his business success is a key part of his fame.

Previously Ms Downey and her TV producer husband Mark Burnett - who describe themselves as "the noisiest Christians in Hollywood" - rejected "the hatred, division and misogyny" of his election campaign.

After the controversial "Trump tapes" were leaked - in which Trump was heard bragging about sexually assaulting women in 2005 - Burnett came under pressure to release any out-takes from the Apprentice that would show him in a bad light.

Mr Burnett rejected claims he and his wife were backing Trump and the "hatred, division and misogyny" of his campaign.

"Given all of the false media reports, I feel compelled to clarify a few points," he said. "I am not now, and have never been, a supporter of Donald Trump's candidacy. I am not 'Pro-Trump'."

He added: "Further, my wife and I reject the hatred, division and misogyny that has been a very unfortunate part of his campaign."

Others in the exclusive Trump Twitter club include Vice-President elect Mike Pence, WWE wrestling mogul Vince McMahon, Fox news anchor Sean Hannity and the right-wing commentator Ann Coulter.

The rest are made up of his family members and businesses. In September, Mark Burnett emphatically denied he had paved Trump's path to the White House by making him a huge reality TV star on the American Apprentice.

Although the power couple enjoyed enormous success with the Apprentice, they recently suffered a box office flop with their recent $131m remake of Ben Hur.
