Donald Trump says he is bringing ‘peace and prosperity’ message to Davos
The US President is first serving occupant of the Oval Office to attend the Switzerland gathering since Bill Clinton in 2000.
President Donald Trump has said he is bringing a message of “peace and prosperity” to an annual economic summit in the Swiss Alps.
Mr Trump arrived in Davos, Switzerland, on Thursday for his first appearance at the World Economic Forum.
As he arrived at the summit venue, Mr Trump was asked how he likes Davos and replied that he thinks: “It’s great.”
Asked about his message for the gathering of world leaders, business executives and celebrities, Mr Trump said it is about “peace and prosperity.”
Mr Trump’s attendance at the annual gathering for free-trade-loving political and business elites has raised eyebrows, given Mr Trump’s protectionist leanings.
He is the first sitting U.S. president to attend the forum since Bill Clinton in 2000.
Will soon be heading to Davos, Switzerland, to tell the world how great America is and is doing. Our economy is now booming and with all I am doing, will only get better...Our country is finally WINNING again!— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) January 25, 2018
Mr Trump flew to the town of Davos by helicopter from Zurich, where he arrived on Thursday morning after flying overnight from Washington.
