Ex-Nigeria governor on fraud charge
The former governor of a Nigerian state is due to appear in a London court after being charged with money laundering and fraud offences.
James Ibori, 48, was extradited to Britain and arrived at London's Heathrow Airport on Friday night on a flight from the United Arab Emirates accompanied by officers from Scotland Yard's extradition unit.
Ibori, ex-governor of the oil-rich Delta State in southern Nigeria, was arrested in Dubai last year at the request of the Metropolitan Police.
A Scotland Yard spokesman said he had been charged with 25 offences relating to money laundering and fraud, adding that he would appear at City of Westminster Magistrates' Court on Saturday.
