Four Afghan police officers shot dead in Helmand province

At least four police officers have been shot dead in southern Helmand province.

Provincial police chief general Aqa Noor Kentoz said all four had been killed the night before at a checkpoint on the outskirts of Lashkar Gah, the provincial capital.

Gen Kentoz said the four might have been attacked by an insider, and a probe is under way.

No-one has claimed responsibility yet, but Taliban have increased their attacks against Afghan security forces across the country.
