Four killed in separate shootings

Three separate shootings have left four people dead in West Virginia, and state police said they are seeking one suspect in all the shootings.

State police spokesman Lieutenant Michael Baylous said two of the shootings happened in the Westover area and the other occurred about six miles (10km) away in an area known as Cheat Lake.

Mr Baylous identified the two victims from the Cheat Lake shooting as Sharon Kay Berkshire, 39, and David Frum, 28.

Mr Baylous had no details on the other shootings, saying other law enforcement agencies were handling them.

Officials said police are seeking a suspect named Jody Lee Hunt, 39. Police also are searching for a 2011 Ford F-150 extended cab truck.

Local schools were placed on lockdown, but West Virginia University (WVU) said there was no immediate threat to the campus.

"The incident is not associated with WVU nor did it occur on or near campus," the university said.
