Frankfurt Airport strike extended

A strike at Frankfurt Airport is being extended for another day in a dispute over pay and working conditions for ground workers.

The GdF union, which represents air traffic control employees, said workers overseeing operations on the ground will walk off the job from 3pm to 10pm local time (2pm-9pm GMT) on Thursday and from 8am to 10pm (7am-9pm GMT) on Friday.

Frankfurt is Germany's busiest airport and continental Europe's second busiest.

GdF is in dispute with airport operator Fraport about pay and working conditions for 200 ground workers.
