Fuel fears ground Israel flights

All flights set to take off from Israel have been grounded due to fears of contaminated jet fuel.

Israel Airports Authority spokesman Adar Avisar says dozens of flights have been stalled at the country's main airport near Tel Aviv. It is unclear when flights would resume.

Mr Avisar said the company that supplies fuel to the airport alerted authorities that it might be tainted, but that the cause was not yet clear. Flying with contaminated fuel can be dangerous.

Israeli media reported that flights en route to Israel have been asked to refuel in nearby Cyprus before landing in Israel.
