Gunfire mayhem at football stadium

A Mexican First Division football game has been suspended after gunmen opened fire on police outside the stadium in the northern city of Torreon.

The series of detonations caused panic inside the stadium, where Santos was playing Morelia, and players ran for cover.

Televised footage showed the players fleeing the field to take cover at the game's 40-minute mark with the score tied at 0-0. Santos' Argentine forward Santos Emanuel Luduena could be seen fleeing, carrying his child.

Hundreds of fans, many with children, then ran onto the field to move away from the sound of the gunfire outside the TSM stadium.

Torreon police and local soccer officials said the attack left one police officer injured, but no-one was hurt inside the stadium.
