I'm hoping Corbyn loses, says Israeli foreign minister

Criticism: Jeremy Corbyn
Criticism: Jeremy Corbyn

Israel's foreign minister has said he hopes Jeremy Corbyn loses the General Election.

Israel Katz told Israeli army radio: "I personally hope he doesn't get elected."

Mr Katz said his opinion was based on that he called a "wave" of anti-semitism sweeping the Labour Party that Mr Corbyn "doesn't deny".

The Labour leader has struggled to defuse criticism from Jewish groups in the run-up to the December 12 vote.

Mr Corbyn came under heavy attack after he repeatedly refused to apologise for anti-semitism during an interview with the BBC's Andrew Neil, although he did so in a later appearance on ITV.
