Jackie Chan ashamed of son's arrest

Film star Jackie Chan has told how he feels ashamed of his son, who has been indicted by Beijing prosecutors on the charge of sheltering others to use drugs.

Chan, who sits on China's top political advisory panel, told the official Xinhua News Agency he did not use his connections to interfere with the case and that he hopes his son will become an anti-drug ambassador when released.

The arrest of 32-year-old Jaycee Chan has been embarrassing for Chan, who was named by Beijing as an anti-drug ambassador in 2009.

The younger Chan was detained in August in his Beijing apartment. If convicted, he could be jailed for up to three years.
