Lohan leaves jail for hospital
Actress Lindsay Lohan has been freed from jail to go into a rehab programme.
The 24-year-old served 14 days of a 90-day jail sentence for breaking her probation in a 2007 drug case. The judge who sentenced her agreed the move into rehab to deal with her alcohol and drug problems.
Lohan had been in a unit of the women's jail since July 20. The facility has also housed stars such as Paris Hilton and Michelle Rodriguez.
A judge in Beverly Hills decided Lohan violated her probation by missing seven weekly alcohol education classes since December.
She is now required to begin a three-month stint in rehab.
Lohan pleaded guilty in August 2007 to two counts of being under the influence of cocaine; no contest to two counts of driving with a blood-alcohol level above 0.08% and one count of reckless driving. She was sentenced to three years of probation.
The plea came after a pair of high-profile arrests earlier that year.
Media have been camped outside the jail since Lohan was booked July 20, catching shots of her mother and sister coming to visit. The sentence has put several of Lohan's projects on hold, including her starring role as Linda Lovelace in a biography on the porn star's life.
