Magnitude-7.2 quake shakes Fiji

A magnitude-7.2 earthquake has rattled Fiji in the Pacific Ocean, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported.

No tsunami warning was issued, and no damage or casualties were immediately reported.

The quake, which happened at 7.30am on Friday local time (1930 GMT Thursday), was deep, some 368.5 miles below the surface, the USGS said.

The USGS said it hit some 264 miles west of Nuku'alofa, Tonga, and 281 miles south-east of Suva, Fiji.
