Mariah Carey was ‘naive’ over Gaddafi gig
Singer Mariah Carey says she was unaware that she was booked to perform a concert linked to Gaddafi's clan.
Carey (40) is among a handful of entertainers paid handsome fees for private concerts. It was later revealed the people behind those concerts were the family of embattled Libyan leader Gaddafi.
Carey performed on the Caribbean island of St Bart's in 2008, but said she did not know who she was performing for.
“I was naive and unaware of who I was booked to perform for. I feel horrible and embarrassed,” the singer said.
Carey's representative would not comment on how much Carey was paid for the performance.
Singers Beyoncé and Nelly Furtado have donated fees earned from Gaddafi gigs to charity.
