A security guard and a teacher were shot dead by an armed student who burst into his Moscow school today.
A police officer who responded to an alarm was wounded, but no injuries have been reported among the children who were in the school at the time.
More than 20 students were held hostage in a classroom on Monday before he was disarmed and taken into custody.
"The person who took 20 people and a teacher hostage is a student in the upper classes at the same school. He has been neutralized and all the students have been freed," Interior Ministry spokesman Andrei Pilipchuk said on state TV.
"One policeman was fatally wounded during the operation and died in hospital, and a teacher at School No. 263 was also killed," he said.
Russia has been on a state of alert ahead of the Sochi Winter Olympics, which start this weekend. But the incident is not believed to be related.
