New Year: Celebrations kick-off as 2017 begins on the other side of the world

While we might have to wait a few more hours to ring in the New Year, it's already 2017 for those on the other side of the globe.

New Zealand rang in the New Year with the usual fanfare, fireworks and festivities.

Fireworks erupted from the Sky Tower in Auckland.

Meanwhile, Polynesia and Pacific islands including Samoa, Tonga and Kiribati entered 2017 at 10am, GMT.
