Nigerian president heads to Britain for 'routine' medical checks

Nigerian president Muhammadu Buhari will have medical check-ups when he visits Britain for more than two weeks, officials said.

A statement from Mr Buhari's special adviser called the medical checks "routine" and added that the leave is part of Mr Buhari's annual holiday.

Mr Buhari, who is in his 70s, was leaving on Thursday and is expected to return on February 6.
