One dead in New York boat collision

Two pleasure boats have collided near the Statue of Liberty, killing one person and injuring two others.

US Coast Guard Petty Officer Thomas McKenzie says the crash in New York Harbour near Liberty Island killed a boater. Two other people have been taken to hospitals.

The Coast Guard, the New York Police Department and US parks police responded to help the victims.

The cause of the crash has not been determined. The NYPD is investigating.
