Policeman killed driver over escape
A Russian policeman has been convicted of shooting dead a snowplough driver who scratched his car.
A Moscow court heard that Anatoly Maurin, 39, shot Vladimir Demidov, 69, in the leg and hit an artery, causing heavy bleeding.
He then fled and threw away his weapon.
Maurin was jailed for six years.
His defence argued that Mr Demidov was drunk and had crossed into the oncoming lane of traffic, hitting Maurin's car.
The snowplough driver's death last December added to public outrage over the high number of policemen accused of harming or killing civilians through aggression or carelessness.
