Aid workers are in the Syrian city of Homs negotiating with authorities and rebels to evacuate all wounded including two foreign journalists, reports say.

International Committee of the Red Cross spokesman Hicham Hassan said his group and the Syrian Arab Red Crescent have been in Baba Amr, the neighbourhood in Homs that has become the centre of the Syrian revolt, since this afternoon.

French journalists Edith Bouvier and William Daniels have asked for help leaving the embattled city after Bouvier was wounded in shelling on Wednesday.

The attack also killed American-born Sunday Times veteran war correspondent Marie Colvin and French photographer Remi Ochlik.
