Salvation Army uses #thedress for domestic violence campaign asking 'Why is it so hard to see black and blue?'
A powerful campaign inspired by the 'What Colour Is This Dress' internet sensation, has been launched by the Salvation Army South Africa.
Last week, the internet went in to meltdown and confusion as a question over the colour of a dress posted on the website Tumblr divided opinion worldwide.
#TheDress, as it has become known, was spotted by a blogger who turned to the website for help when the garment started an argument among her friends.
Most people saw the dress as either blue and black or gold and white.
The campaign launched by the Salvation Army pictures a woman in a similar dress to that of the debate - but the colour is clearly gold and white.
She has cuts and bruises to her face and legs.
It carries the caption - "Why is it so hard to see black and blue?"
A caption adds: 'The only illusion is if you think it was her choice. One in six women are victims of abuse. Stop abuse against women.'
The powerful image was met with positive reactions online as thousands shared it on its launch on Friday.
