Several people were hurt when a cruise ship crashed into a pier in downtown San Diego on Thursday.
Seven of the 139 people aboard the 150-foot Adventure Hornblower tourist boat were injured after it smashed into the Embarcadero harbour at around 1pm. Three were hospitalised. None of the injuries were life-threatening.
The 22-year-old ship, which offers dinner cruises, chartered events, and whale-watching tours, could be heard repeatedly sounding its horn as it approached the dock.
A mechanical malfunction reportedly caused a gear to stick and prevented the vessel from stopping.
