Scores die in flooding in China
Chinese officials say that 90 people have been killed in this week's flooding in southern China and 1.4 million evacuated as the region prepares for more rain.
The state flood control office said 50 people are missing. Water levels surged past safe levels in dozens of rivers, including the Pearl River in the heart of China's manufacturing region.
The flood control office said 5.5 million people were affected by the storm-fuelled flooding in nine provinces and regions across China's south.
The China Daily newspaper cited the office's executive deputy director as saying more than 1.4 million residents were moved from low-lying areas.
