Seven killed in Iraq suicide blast

A suicide bomber blew himself up near an Iraqi army checkpoint in the northern city of Mosul, killing seven people, officials have said.

Police and medical officials said 16 people were injured. Four of the dead were Iraqi soldiers.

Iraqi security at checkpoints or on patrols are often targeted by Sunni insurgents who see them as collaborators with the Shiite-led government.
