Seven killed in stabbing rampage

Seven people were killed and 22 injured when two knife-wielding men hijacked a truck and then attacked a crowd, a Chinese police official said.

The attack happened on Saturday night in the Silk Road city of Kashgar in the northwest region on Xinjiang.

An official at the Xinjiang regional public security bureau said two men hijacked a truck and fatally stabbed its driver. She said the men then drove the truck into a crowd and got out and attacked pedestrians.

The official said that one of the suspects was killed during the incident and the other was caught.
