Soldier killed in gunfight near paramilitary camp in Kashmir

A police spokesman said the building near the camp in Srinagar where the gun battle was taking place had been cleared of all civilians.

At least one soldier was killed when two gunmen opened fire near a paramilitary camp in the main city of Indian-controlled Kashmir.

The attack came hours after government troops ended a two-day gun battle with three armed men at an army camp in another part of the disputed region.

Rajesh Yadav, a spokesman for the Central Reserve Police Force, said the building near the camp in Srinagar where the gun battle was taking place had been cleared of all civilians.

Police chief SP Vaid said the area had been cordoned off and troops were exchanging fire with the gunmen.
