Suspicious cargo forces jet to land
A passenger jet which made an emergency landing at Mumbai last night was searched for suspicious cargo after a warning from airline staff in the Netherlands, but Indian security agencies later gave the aircraft the all-clear.
Delta flight 70 from Amsterdam landed at Mumbai's international airport at 11pm flanked by fire trucks and other emergency vehicles and was taken to an isolated bay, where it was inspected by bomb squads, said airport spokesman Manish Kalghatgi.
The plane was later shifted to a parking bay after emergency alerts were withdrawn.
“Security has cleared the cargo,” Mr Kalghatgi said. “They haven't found anything objectionable.”
