US men held over Islamic State aid
A member of the Illinois Army National Guard and another suburban Chicago man have been arrested on charges of conspiring to provide material support to the Islamic State group in Syria and Iraq.
The US Attorney's office in Chicago said 22-year-old Hasan Edmonds and 29-year-old Jonas Edmonds, both of Aurora, were arrested last night.
It says Hasan Edmonds was arrested at Chicago Midway International Airport trying to board a flight to Egypt.
The other suspect was arrested at his Aurora home. It is not clear whether they are related.
The complaint says the men planned an attack on a US military facility in northern Illinois.
They are scheduled to make an initial appearance in a District Court in Chicago later.
