Calling all volunteers for this very worthy charity

Editor's Viewpoint

Right from the beginning in 1986, Childline has proved to be a real lifeline for many thousands of young people suffering from a wide range of problems. It is a vital listening ear for children who feel they have nowhere else to turn to because of bullying, abuse, mental health problems and even suicidal thoughts.

It was the brainchild of Dame Esther Rantzen and it has changed the lives of many by showing them a way out of the darkness.

But it could not succeed and continue to be relevant without the dedicated volunteers who give their time to the charity. More are needed and it is difficult to think of more worthwhile work.
