Cheryl might look stressed out, but not every X Factor export is suffering the same fate.

Watching Jedward woo the continent by jumping up and down and shouting out of tune and out of time on Eurovision at the weekend, I had to concede that the boys look like they’re having the time of their lives.

It’s always heartening to see kids having fun and expressing themselves, even if the quality of that self-expression is ‘nul’.

There could still be some folks who take Eurovision seriously and care about their country winning it, but they’re surely a dying breed.

Political voting amongst neighbouring nations has killed off any idea of competition.

The only point of the show is to see which countries have the best imagination/sense of humour/joie de vivre.

Which is why Blue were a terrible, po-faced choice, and Jedward and the Moldovan pointy-heads were perfect Eurovizsh fodder.
