A Grimm tale of DIY gingerbread

There was great excitement when I got a DIY gingerbread house kit as a present. No baking required, just artistic flair and a steady hand. What could go wrong?

Expectations were high as my daughter and I began icing the pre-baked walls and roof together.

But our icing went a bit gloopy, my hand was not as steady as hoped and the angles ended up a bit skew-whiff.

By the time we began sticking on sweeties to complete the magical winter wonderland look (and hide the damage), the poor house looked like it had been caught in a hurricane. Never mind, we thought as we demolished it, it was still delicious.

Messy but delicious.
