How Bell rang in Belfast New Year
My hands are still stinging from all the exuberant clapping required at the Ulster Orchestra's New Year's Viennese concert at the weekend. The musicians did a magical job bringing the audience through a jaunt of lively marches, polkas and waltzes from the era of Johann Strauss II.
Strictly veterans, Ian Waite and Camilla Dallerup, brought some showbiz glamour to the proceedings.
But the real star of the show was conductor Christopher Bell who had us all in the palm of his hand with his snazzy jackets, bright coloured shoes (he has over 110 pairs, ladies), jaunty dance moves and snappy one-liners.
My only complaint is the sore hands.
