As a fan of things you can hold, I'm buoyed to read sales of vinyl have surged to their highest in 15 years. Last year alone they went up 32% from 2012.
Record Store Day, which took place last Saturday, is now a glorious global affair, with perhaps the greatest musical talent of his generation, Jack White (above), its unofficial figurehead.
What we need now is Book Store Day, to celebrate the joys of books with individual covers, pages, bonding and smells. Books that get old and brown and retain faded annotations and greetings scribbled in pen.
