A dim view of terminal design
The odd lightbulb moment may be the mark of genius – but not, apparently, the mark of the genius who designed Heathrow Terminal 5.
The lightbulbs there are so far up, so out of reach, that gradually the place has been descending into a twilight zone as no fewer than 60% have blown. (Didn't they have those eco bulbs that last for all eternity?)
Finally, airport authorities have now worked out how to change them. Reportedly they're calling in men on high wires. Obviously, the bright sparks who designed the place didn't calculate how many trapeze artists it takes to change a lightbulb.
