Ant's crash a sobering road safety lesson

By Lindy McDowell

One of my earliest memories was the death of my lovely grandfather - my mother's father - who was mown down on his bicycle by a drunk driver.

In a separate incident, my cousin, over eight months' pregnant at the time, was also killed early one morning as she walked along a zebra crossing - again by a drunk driver.

Whatever the truth about the incident involving Ant McPartlin, now back in rehab following a thankfully less tragic road accident, hopefully it has highlighted again that old line about how you should never, ever, ever drink and drive.
