CPS in the dock on Michael Le Vell case

By Lindy McDowell

Michael Le Vell, unanimously cleared by a jury of the rape and indecent assault of a young girl, magnanimously says he feels he is strong enough to forgive the girl.

Whatever led her to make the false accusations against him she is obviously a troubled young woman.

Her mother attracts much less media sympathy in coverage of the case. But in fairness we should remember she is the girl's mother. Her daughter made claims of abuse to her.

That the mother believed her doesn't make her a monster.

The behaviour of the CPS which took the case to court after previously dropping charges through lack of evidence is less understandable though. Or forgivable.
