Writing on the PSNI Newry social media sites, an unnamed officer wishes locals a Happy New Year in English, Irish, Lithuanian, Polish and Russian.
Well-intentioned no doubt, but in his efforts to be inclusive he forgot to include Ulster Scots which has angered some. Hardly a hanging matter. And he did say sorry, posting a pic of his hands up with the words, "I'm sorry" scrawled thereon.
Maybe it's just me but what I'm getting here is not so much a sense of social media slight or an officer now with an apology on his hands. More the sense of a boy with possibly too much time on them.
