In the end it's all relative in Oz

By Nuala McKeever

There's a line in my play, In The Window, where the woman says to the teenage boy: "We've only just met each other tonight. We can't be family just because we say so."

Well, I'm not so sure about that any more. I've been with my Oz "family" with whom I share no blood connection (well, possibly if y'went back 1,000 years ago we might) but whom I consider now to be as much family as my own family. And that's definitely because I say so.

I haven't even checked with them! There's tribe, there's friends and then there's family. We are family. Thanks for letting me in.
