O’Neill visits Tullamore Show

Agriculture and Rural Development Minister Michelle O’Neill has attended the Tullamore and AIB National Livestock Show in Kildare which attracts breeders of quality cattle and sheep from all over Ireland.
Speaking after her visit the Minister said: “The success of Tullamore Show and its programme of events which incorporates many elements including cultural, commercial and competitive interests, ranging from livestock equestrian, home industries, inventions, vintage, fashion, style and performing arts, has ensured its position as one of Ireland's major attractions.
“The event plays an important role in the social calendar of farmers and their families and by modifying their focus in recent years the show now attracts a diverse cross-section of people living in rural Ireland.
“Such events are a great opportunity to celebrate our roots in agriculture and catch up on the latest trends in agriculture and rural business.”
Notes to editors:
1. The Tullamore and AIB National Livestock Show took place on Sunday 11 August. It is a family event which attracts upwards of 60,000 visitors each year.
2. The 250 acre site included a 250,000sq ft tented village and business arcade in addition to 650 trade stands as well as major meat processors.
