Phase one of Lisanelly Project gets the green light

Education Minister, John O’Dowd, has announced that preliminary work on phase one of the Lisanelly Shared Education Campus is scheduled to begin on-site in the autumn.
The news comes with the approval of the business case which will see phase one of this major investment move into the procurement and construction phase. This will involve site clearance work commencing in the autumn with the construction of the new Arvalee School and Resource Centre commencing next year.
Minister O’Dowd said: “I am happy to announce the approval of the business case for Phase 1 of the Lisanelly Shared Education Campus project. I am committing more than £14million of funding over the next three years to deliver the first stage of a project that will ultimately deliver a shared education campus serving the needs of almost 4,000 children in the Omagh area.
“This first phase will see site work commence in the autumn of this year with the construction of the new Arvalee School commencing in the summer of 2014.
“This is a critical milestone for the project and I am pleased that we have reached the point of commencing works on the site.”
