Bertie Ahern has always had a curious relationship with the English language. Forever striving for the right word or phrase, but not always finding it. Whatever books he has in his library, it would appear a thesaurus is not among them.

Last week the former Taoiseach tripped over his shoe laces once again, using the word ‘ghetto’ to describe the poorer parts of loyalist east Belfast when a dozen others would have been more apt.
