It is fair to say David Trimble lived an extraordinary life with such purpose and positive impact that his political legacy, the Good Friday Agreement, is known around the world and will endure long beyond our lifetimes.

So, who was he? Well, he was a very complex man with a razor-sharp intellect. He could be withdrawn and socially shy, but he was always strategic, adversarial and fiercely committed.
