Through the worst of times in Ballymurphy, my granny’s Protestant next-door neighbour, Rossi, would come into family gatherings and sing her party piece, The Auld Orange Flute. Her grandchildren, Andre and Ihab Shoukri, were loyalists.

The Cahills were republicans. Outside on the street, people were killing each other, and yet I never remember anything other than respect and friendship between the two clans.
